Terms of Use

1. Acceptance

By using Hot Water Club (the "App") you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.

2. The service

Hot Water Club is a club for people who rate instant noodles. Members check in the noodles they eat, see Slurp Scores, track the countries they've tried, earn badges, comment, and log the stores where noodles turn up. The App is made by Kanto Projects, is free, and shows ads.

3. Eligibility

The App isn't directed at children under 13, and you must be 13 or older to create an account. If the law where you live sets a higher age for agreeing to terms like these, you need to be that age or have a parent's or guardian's permission.

4. Accounts

• You sign in with Apple or Google. Keep that account secure; you're responsible for what happens under your membership.
• One account per person. Don't pretend to be someone else, and don't choose a handle that is offensive or misleading.
• You can delete your account at any time in the App: Me › Settings › Delete my account.

5. Your content

• Your check-ins, comments, sightings, suggestions and photos stay yours.
• You give Kanto Projects a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, show, combine into totals and distribute them in the App and its services while they're in the club.
• When a suggestion is approved, the noodle's details join the club's catalog without your name. The catalog includes Open Food Facts data and is shared under the Open Database License, so you agree that those details can be shared under that licence.
• A pack photo you send with a suggestion is for review only and isn't published.
• Only post what you have the right to post.

6. Community rules

• Rate noodles you've actually eaten, and log sightings you've actually seen.
• Comments are up to 140 characters. Keep them about noodles and keep them civil.
• No spam, hate, harassment, threats, sexual content, other people's personal information, or anything illegal.
• Don't game scores or badges, for example with extra accounts or automated check-ins.
• Don't copy the club's data in bulk, take the App apart, or interfere with its service.

7. Moderation and bans

• Members can report comments and members. Three reports hide a comment until we've looked at it.
• We may remove content, and limit, suspend or ban accounts that break these Terms, with or without notice.
• A ban ends sign-in, hides the member's comments and check-ins, and takes their ratings out of Slurp Scores.
• If you think we got it wrong, email apps@kantoprojects.com.

8. Ratings, nutrition and data

• Slurp Scores, heat levels and comments are members' opinions, not facts about a product. A noodle gets a score at five ratings.
• Nutrition and dietary information comes from the pack, Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central, and we don't verify it. Don't rely on the App for allergies or dietary needs; read the pack.
• Sightings say where members saw a noodle, not what a store has today.

9. Advertising

The App shows ads from Google AdMob. Your consent and tracking choices are explained in the Privacy Policy. Advertisers are responsible for their own ads and products.

10. Intellectual property

• The App, its design, its badges and the bowl-and-steam mark belong to Kanto Projects.
• Noodle names and brands belong to their owners. Hot Water Club is an independent app and isn't affiliated with, or endorsed by, any noodle maker.
• Data from Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central. Open Food Facts data is available under the Open Database License.

11. Third-party terms

Your use of the App Store, Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, Apple Maps and Google AdMob is also governed by their own terms. If you got the App from the App Store, Apple's standard licence for apps also applies, and Apple isn't responsible for the App or its support.

12. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Scores, sightings, nutrition and catalog details can be wrong, late or missing.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Kanto Projects isn't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses. Our total liability for any claim about the App is limited to US$50.

14. Changes and termination

We may change the App or these Terms. If we change the Terms, we'll post the new version here with a new date. You can stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaiʻi, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where your local consumer law gives you rights that can't be waived. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, unless your local law says otherwise.
