Ratings and verification

What makes a check-in verified?

Scan the pack's barcode in the app, then rate it. A scan verifies one check-in of that noodle for the next two hours, or for two hours after a cook timer it started ends. Starting a timer on its own doesn't verify a check-in. Verified check-ins say so, and they count a little more toward the Slurp Score.

When does a noodle get a Slurp Score?

At five ratings. Until then it says "Not enough slurps yet." Doctored check-ins get their own average, so the score is for the noodle as it comes. A noodle needs 15 ratings to make the Top lists.

Can I change a check-in?

You can't edit one, but you can delete it. Check in again and your latest rating is the one that counts.

What do "Hotter than it claims" and "All smoke" mean?

The club's heat and the pack's own claim are a level and a half or more apart. Hotter than it claims: members found it hotter than the pack says. All smoke: the pack promised more heat than members found.

Can I keep my check-ins to myself?

Yes, with a private profile in Settings. "Your check-ins stay out of feeds and a noodle's recent check-ins. Your ratings still count toward Slurp Scores."

Badges

How do I earn badges?

  • Countries: tiers at 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 countries.
  • Formats: cup, packet, bowl and tray, all tried.
  • Heat Seeker: 10 noodles the club rates Wildfire or hotter.
  • Verified: 25 verified check-ins.
  • Contributor: a noodle you suggested joins the club.
  • Spotter: another member confirms a sighting you found.
  • Timer Regular: 10 check-ins started from the cook timer.

Where are my badges?

On Me, under Badges. Once earned, a badge is yours to keep.

Suggesting a noodle

The app can't find my noodle. What now?

Tap Suggest it. Before it says a noodle isn't in the club yet, the app checks Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central, so much of the form may already be filled in.

What do I send?

The name, maker, country, format and weight, and a photo of the pack if you have one: "Straight on, with the whole front visible." You can send up to five suggestions a day. A barcode that's already in the club can't be suggested again.

What happens after I suggest it?

It shows "Pending review". You can rate it meanwhile, and your check-in goes public once it's approved. Then it's either "In the club" or "Not added", with the reason, and the answer shows up in your inbox. A noodle you suggested that joins the club earns you the Contributor badge.

Who sees my pack photo?

"Only our review team sees it." It isn't published, and it's deleted when you delete your account.

Your account and data

How do I sign in?

With Apple or Google. Sign in with Apple shares your name, not your email address. You don't need an account to look around: "Browsing is open to everyone. Sign in to rate noodles, comment and log where you found them."

How do I delete my account?

Me › Settings › Delete my account. "This removes your check-ins, comments, likes, sightings, lists, handle and profile. It can't be undone." It also removes your suggestions and their photos. If you signed in with Apple, you'll confirm with Apple once more. The Privacy Policy lists what stays.

How do I report a comment or block someone?

Report a comment or a member from its menu. "Three reports hide a comment until we've looked at it." Blocking a member hides each of you from the other.

Why are there ads, and can I choose?

Ads keep the app free. Google's consent form appears where the law requires it, then Apple's tracking prompt. Say no to either and ads aren't personalized; you see the same number either way. You can change your answer in the app's Settings, where it applies, or in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
